ELTA Privacy & General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Policy

ELTA undertakes to be and to remain fully compliant with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Data protection Act (DPA) 2018.

Legal Framework of ELTA

ELTA The School of Spoken English, is the trading name of English Language & Training for Adults Ltd. It is a limited company, registration number 535039.

Why We Collect Your Personal Data & What We Do with It

In order to register a non-EU student with Immigration, we must provide Immigration with information that confirms the identity of the student.

The information the student provides us with when filling in the application form is transferred to our database where it is stored for the duration of the student’s course. Only information relevant to the applicant’s participation in a course at ELTA is requested. Before submitting the application form, the applicant is asked to check a box to allow ELTA to store their data securely for the purposes of tracking their progress and attendance, and maintaining their academic records. This data is available to the student on request and is not shared with third parties with the exception of immigration officers, where applicable. The staff members who have access to the information on the database are our two academic managers, our academic administrator, our accounts manager, and the director.

When the student has completed their course, their information is moved to the ‘discharged’ area of the site where only the academic administrator and the director can access it. E-copies of end of course certificates showing the start and end dates of the course and the level achieved, are kept for ten years for the purpose of reissuing the student with certification, should they require it.

Our website uses only strictly necessary cookies, that is, those required for visitors to use the website. We do not use tracking, third party or marketing cookies.

The Role of Our Data Protection Officer (DPO)

The role of DPO at ELTA is occupied by our academic administrator, who, in order to carry out his responsibilities, must have oversight of student data. He ensures that this information is treated confidentially and stored securely, and when the student’s course is finished, he is responsible for migrating the data to the secure area of the database where only he and the director can access it.
